The holiday season is the time of year where you should be
getting ready to go shopping and spend time with friends and relatives. It
is also the time of year where HVAC problems are likely to occur. To prevent
your home from being a source of discomfort during the holidays, here are two
common heating issues that could end up costing you a fortune that you should be on the lookout for.
Heater Suddenly Stops
Working
If your heater suddenly conks out in the middle of the
night, don’t panic. There could be several reasons why this has occurred. Grab
a flashlight and take a look inside of your fuse box to ensure the fuse to the furnace
has not blown. If everything checks out with the fuse, the next step is to
check the pilot light. If the pilot is out or you haven’t found the problem, it’s
time for you to contact your local Tennessee
HVAC professionals.
Drafty Rooms
Contrary to popular belief, it is not necessary for you to
keep changing the temperature on your thermostat in order to keep your home
warm and comfortable. If you have a problem with your home feeling cooler than
it should and you have high heating bills, the likely culprits are your
windows, doors, and quite possibly the roof. Old insulation or a lack of it can
also cause a house to be drafty. Windows and doors that are not properly sealed
and or have loose paneling can allow drafts or gusts of cold air into your home. This can make keeping it at an optimal temperature a challenge. A roof that is in
need of repair should be serviced as soon as possible to prevent any further
damage and discomfort.
Even though it is a good idea to winterize your home before
the start of the winter season to prevent these issues, it is not too late to
start now. For more info on how to protect your home for the winter to prevent
